Roasted Strawberry Milkshake – Treat yourself & your loved ones to this ridiculously delicious milkshake! Once you try the classic strawberry shake with roasted strawberries you will never want it any other way! A perfect frozen treat for those hot summer days.
I seem to have an obsession with strawberries this year, with us nearly constantly having some of these luscious red berries in our fridge for the last month. Not only have I been eating them on their own, I’ve made my White Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Balsamic Roasted Strawberries, my Strawberry Rhubarb Mint Crisp, and now I’ve made these milkshakes! I just can’t get enough!
Here in Manitoba it is finally strawberry season and honestly, local, freshly picked strawberries taste a million times better than the store bought ones which come from who knows where. I had been hoping to go strawberry picking this year, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like I will get the opportunity to before the season ends. Luckily there are some markets where I can get my hands on them, and I will just have to wait until next year to go berry picking!
These last few weeks have been exhausting! Work has been busy and so has life in general. Sometimes I feel like there are not enough hours in a day. Thankfully, some of the business we have had and will have over the next little while are fun and good things! We have a friends wedding this upcoming weekend, and shortly after that I am headed to Montreal for the first time ever! I am super excited for a little vacation, and have heard Montreal has some amazing food so I am really looking forward to that.
With all this business going on, I seem to be craving sweet treats lately, and then with hot weather comes cold treats… such as milkshakes!
This milkshake seems so unassuming at a glance, you may think it is just your average strawberry milkshake. However, one surefire way to make the average strawberry shake even better is to use fresh strawberries instead of strawberry flavored ice cream or strawberry milk. Now, roast those strawberries before blending them with vanilla ice cream and a bit of milk and you’ve really got something else! It was so difficult for me to leave some of this shake to share with Joel, that’s how good it is!
Aside from the extra step of having to roast the strawberries, this is really easy and quick to throw together! Just mix it up in the blender, garnish with a strawberry or whipped cream if desired, throw in a straw and you’ve got yourself a delicious treat. I promise you, the extra bit of time is 100% worth it, and once you try the shake this way, you will never want it any other way.
After I took these photos I decided to drizzle in some chocolate balsamic vinegar to this… and WOW. If you have some on hand or really want to make this shake unique, I highly recommend you try it! It will blow your mind.
